(Newport Beach, CA) - The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) Autographed Coin Program now includes former President George Bush. The 41st President recently signed encapsulation inserts for 500 certified proof 1992 White House commemorative silver dollars.
This is the second in a series of PCGS certified autograph projects involving coins. Collectors Universe (Nasdaq: CLCT), the parent company of PCGS, has provided "signed in the presence of" autograph certification services for many years for sports and entertainment personalities.
Mr. Bush signed his signature 500 times in the presence of two witnesses, PCGS Operations Director, Michael "Miles" Standish, and West Highland Publishing Co. President, Les Fox, in Houston, Texas on March 5. He is the second former President to participate in a PCGS certification project.
Last year, Gerald R. Ford, the 38th U.S. President, signed inserts for 1976 Bicentennial coins, that were issued during his presidency, and also gold American Eagle coins.
"We plan many more autographed coin projects involving former U.S. Presidents. Additional programs will be announced in the coming months," said Standish.
