The Royal Wedding between Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton will take place on Friday, April 29, 2011. To celebrate, the Royal Mint, the Canadian Royal Mint and the Pobjoy Mint have issued several coins honoring this historic event.
The Canadian Royal Mint issued two different coins. First, a colored 25 Cent coin made of steel. The reverse depicts Prince William and Miss Catherine while the obverse displays Queen Elizabeth II. The price for each coin is set at $25.95 (CAD)
The second coin being issued is a Proof $20 coin struck in pure silver. The names of the future bride and groom are laser-engraved on the coins' edge. The reverse of the coin has a Swarovski element glittering in sapphire against pure silver, while the design depicts Prince William and future bride Miss Catherine with maple leaves and a stylized Tudor rose in the background. The price of each coin is set at $104.95 (CAD).
The Royal Mint and the Pobjoy Mint are also offering numerous Royal Wedding coins to honor this memorable event. There are too many of them to list in this article, so feel free to visit the following websites to see some of the other designs issued by some of the different Mints. PCGS will also be grading all of the Royal Wedding coins.
