PCGS Opens German Coin Set Registry

Newport Beach, CA - The rapid growth of the popular PCGS Set Registry program continues with the opening on Friday, May 4, of a new registry section for German coins.

"We now have three new general categories encompassing about 40 set composites of dates and basic types for PCGS-certified German coins: German Empire 1873 - 1918; Weimar Germany 1919 - 1933; and West Germany 1948 - 2001," said Ron Guth, PCGS President.

"PCGS is committed to promoting and supporting world coin collecting and this is just the beginning. In the near future, we'll be adding more collecting opportunities not only in some of the most popular countries, but in cross-country type sets as well. We'll present the various sets in ways that reflect current collecting trends, but we'll also be introducing new and innovative ways to collect world coins," Guth explained.

The new German coins categories represent another significant advancement in the free, interactive PCGS Set Registry program that was established in 2001.

"In addition to every major U.S. coin series, the registry also has categories for British, Canadian, Euro, Philippines, Japanese and now German coins. We have created an international community of collectors online," explained BJ Searls, PCGS Set Registry Manager.

PCGS is a division of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASADAQ: CLCT).

Participants in the German coins registry will have access to all the new "V2" features of the new software programs PCGS added to enhance the registry program this past November. The PCGS Set Registry has nearly 26,000 sets now registered. Collectors compare their collection to other current and all-time great collections. Sets are ranked in the order of grade point average, completion and overall rating.
