PCGS CoinFacts Update

Although the 1872 Indian Cent was struck in sufficient quantities, examples are far scarcer today than one might expect. A U.S. Mint redemption program and natural attrition culled a significant portion of the original mintage. Collectors recognize this issue for its Bold N and Shallow N reverse varieties, terms that refer to the sharpness of the letter "N" in the word "ONE." The Bold N is the standard strike, while the Shallow N and the Repunched Date FS-301 are highly sought-after varieties. Charles Morgan files this CoinFacts update.   Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

In 2011, the Bulgarian National Bank issued its first coin in the Medieval Bulgarian Rulers series. This 10 leva proof coin is struck in .925 (or sterling) silver, which is partially gilt in gold and depicts Khan Krum, a ruler from about 802-813. The next coin in the series was minted in 2013 and exhibits Tsar Samuil; he was the first emperor or tsar, who ruled Bulgaria from 997 to 1014 and was known for being "invincible in power and unsurpassable in strength." These coins are splendid in terms of craftsmanship. This series continues with a hiatus during some years but has been struck up until 2023. This coin depicting Tsar Mikhail III above is part of the 2011-2023 Bulgarian Leaders and Tsars 10 Leva Proof Set that collectors can build on the PCGS Set Registry.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build.
