The proof and uncirculated dollars are available individually with special labels. PCGS will also use special labels for its two-coin holder, encapsulating a Proof Dollar and a Proof Service Medal together. It is only possible to combine a World War I Centennial 2018 Proof Silver Dollar with any of the five Proof Service Medals in the same two-coin holder. The uncirculated strike of the dollar will not be encapsulated with any proof strike medal.

The U.S. Mint releases the coins and medals for purchase on January 17, 2018. The Mint will ship the 2-piece silver dollar and medal sets in late May 2018, while the individual proof and uncirculated dollars will begin shipping January 17.

For the combination coin and medal holder, the dollar label’s obverse shows the year, mint mark, denomination, and grade, with the Stars and Stripes in the background and the silhouette of a U.S. soldier in a World War I uniform. The service medal’s label shows the year, mint mark, denomination, and grade with a continuation of the stripes from the American flag in the background, with silhouettes of marching U.S. soldiers in World War I garb. The labels’ reverse sides are standard PCGS issue with the PCGS hologram, specification number, and certificate number.
