PCGS CoinFacts Update

The 1914-D Lincoln Cent saw a mintage of 1,193,000, more than twice the 484,000 examples of the storied 1909-S VDB series key. However, the 1914-D is a major key in its own right, regardless of condition. It is widely counterfeited and significantly more difficult to find in choice Red Mint State grades than the 1909-S VDB.   Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

Sierra Leone is a tropical country located on the west coast of Africa. The country was originally named Serra Leoa, which translates to "Lion Mountains," in 1462 by Pedro de Sintra, a Portuguese explorer. In 1808, Great Britian had taken over Sierra Leone a year after slavery was abolished. It was named British Sierra Leone at the time, and England intended it as a colony for freed people who were formerly enslaved, with the capital known as Freetown. In the lush surrounding hills live about 15 different types of primates, including chimpanzees, orangutans, and mountain gorillas. You may even find the "agile gibbon," aptly dubbed for its ability to quickly swing among the trees. The agile gibbon is shown above on the $1 coin, which is part of the Sierra Leone One Dollar Copper Nickel Endangered Primates, Proof (2009-2011) set for collectors to consider building.
