CoinFacts Narrative Update

The Burnished Uncirculated 2020-P Marsh Billings Rockefeller 5 Ounce Quarters were first offered by the U.S. Mint on November 23, 2020. Each coin had an issue price of $229. The maximum authorized mintage was set at 13,750 coins. Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

Egypt is rich with history and is home to some of the most iconic structures ever built by humans. Take, for example, the pyramids at Al-Jizah or Giza in Egypt. These structures were built between 2600-2450 B.C., and at times these landmarks can be seen by astronauts from space. To this day, debates exist as to how the marvelous pyramids were built and what type of construction methods were used. About 1-1/2 miles to the east of the great pyramids, the Great Sphinx of Giza resides in golden sands, and it was constructed to represent the pharaoh Khafre. This half man, and half lion statue was built from limestone and is the oldest monumental structure within the country of Egypt.

One of the greatest puzzles that baffled archaeologists was the symbolic language of hieroglyphics used by the Egyptians. During Napoleon Bonaparte's conquest of Egypt, the Rosetta Stone, containing three different types of writing, was uncovered by his soldiers. The mystery of hieroglyphics was solved by a man named Jean-Francois Champollion in 1822 when he used the Rosetta Stone to help decipher this riddle. One symbol from this ancient language that may be recognizable is the symbol of Ankh, which represents life, and is shown on the coin above, which is part of the set PCGS has listed as Palau Silver 3 Oz.
