PCGS Set Registry Update

Professional soccer is one of the most popular international sports and is governed by the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA). The FIFA World Cup is a soccer tournament that occurs every four years and is generally hosted by a different country each time. Italy, France, Mexico, Germany, and Brazil are the only five countries that have hosted the World Cup twice in the tournament's history. One of the most memorable matchups for the final game in 1986 took place at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca football stadium between Argentina and Germany (West Germany). The captain of the Argentinian team was Diego Maradona, and he led the team to a 3-2 win over Germany. Prior to this game, Maradona and his team had a match against England. Diego scored two goals in this game and one of them was voted "Goal of the Century." Mexico had issued FIFA World Cup coins in 1985 and 1986 to commemorate this event in proof and uncirculated finishes. Shown above is a 100 pesos silver coin with a player balancing a ball on his head; the coin is part of the Mexican 1986 World Cup Soccer Games Silver Set, Proof (1985-1986) PCGS has listed for collectors to consider building.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build. The PCGS Set Registry offers many different sets from all over the world and specialty sets for advanced collectors. We appreciate your continued patronage!
