Jaime Hernandez:

The Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar coins were officially released on August 14, 2008. The same day, the U.S. Mint held a ceremony in "The Hermitage," to promote the new Presidential Dollar coins. This was also Andrew Jackson's home which is located in Nashville, Tennessee.

At the ceremony, anyone who was younger than 18 year old was given an uncirculated Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar coin. Additionally, there were Andrew Jackson Presidential dollar coins being exchanged for a dollar each, to anyone who wished to acquire the new Presidential dollar coins.

In addition, the U.S. Mint also offered the coins directly to the public. The coins could either be ordered in bags which contained 250 coins each, for a price of $319.95. or the coins could also be ordered in individual rolls for a price of $35.95 for each roll. One roll contained 25 coins each.

Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States. Therefore, the Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar coin is the 7th coin issued in the Presidential Dollar coin program. The Andrew Jackson Dollar was the third of four different Presidential dollar coins offered by the U.S. Mint in 2008.
