The 1844 Quarter Dollar is considered a common date even though its mintage is less than half that of the more highly regarded 1843-O. The difference in value can be attributed to a higher survival rate of Mint State Quarter Dollars.
The typical Uncirculated 1844 Quarter Dollar is MS63 with smaller populations flanking this grade. Gem examples are extremely rare and anything above MS65 is a super-rarity (if they exist at all).
