1846-O Half Dollars feature two different date logotypes for the year: Medium Date and Tall Date. The differences between the two are obvious when the coins are placed side-by-side, but to attribute a single coin, you will need the aid of the attribution image above. The clearest differences are on the 1 of the date, which is tall and slender on the Tall Date; the 6, whose top ball is widely separated from the bottom loop on the Tall Date; and the 4, which is shaped quite differently on both.
