The 1965 Special Mint Set Washington Quarters were struck for collectors. Therefore, examples did not go into circulation and most coins have been preserved in very nice quality, mostly ranging from SP65-SP68 condition. Examples displaying full Cameo condition are much scarcer. Most examples showing Cameo surfaces were probably struck from fresh dies or freshly polished dies, making them special coins because of their unusual, yet, great Cameo appearance.
