Only two examples are known of the Proof 1852/1 Humbert $20. The better of the two examples came from the personal collection of Augustus Humbert, through the Zabriskie, Ellsworth, and Garrett Collections, and last appeared on the market in May 1992, when it sold for $374,000. The second example came from the personal collection of John Glover Kellogg (coiner for Moffatt & Co.), through the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, and last appeared in May 2004, when it sold for $287,500. These are incredible coins that represent the finest efforts of the U.S. Assay Office.
