The George Washington Dollar is the fist coin in the Presidential Dollar series.
Some coins with the George Washington design were found with Missing Edge lettering inscriptions. It is not known whether the Missing Edge lettering Dollars were struck at Philadelphia or the Denver Mint since the mint mark is usually located on the edge of the coin.
Coins with Missing Edge Lettering which were submitted in sealed boxes to PCGS, would receive a special First Day of Issue designation (FDI).
