Ron Guth:

On this variety, a dot (or stop) separates the words DEI and GRATIA at the top of the obverse. This is a fairly common variety that can be found with relative ease in Mint State. Several varieties comprise this design variant, some of which are quite scarce. Collectors should seek out examples with hard, glossy surfaces, minimal spots, and a sharp strike (finding all these characteristics on a single coin is quite an accomplishment).
