The 1835 N-19 Large Cent is a rare variety, with fewer than sixty examples in collectors' hands. This variety is of the sub-type "Head of 1836" and has a small 8 and small stars. Only a single Mint State example is known and that is the discovery coin for the variety, purchased by John Wright in 1981 as an "interemdiate N-14." Upon further research, Wright discovered that his coin was a completely new variety, which fact he reported in 1982. Thereafter, the variety became known as Newcomb 19.
No other Mint State examples have appeared since then, despite considerable searching.
