2009-D 1C Lincoln-Early Childhood Satin Finish, RD (Special Strike)

The Early Childhood Lincoln cent is the first design issued in the 2009 Lincoln cent series.

Obverse: The obverse of the 2009 Early Childhood design features Abraham Lincolns' bust.

Reverse: The Early Childhood reverse design features the Log Cabin Kentucky, where Abraham Lincoln grew up in.

Metal Composition: Interestingly, the 2009 Satin Finish Early Childhood Lincoln Cent is composed of 95% copper alloy, 3% zinc and 2% tin. This metal composition was last used on Lincoln cents from 1909 - 1942.

Date of Issue: On October 01, 2009, the U.S. Mint began offering the 2009 Uncirculated Coin Sets. This set contained 36 different coins including the 8 - different 2009 Lincoln cents. The 2009 Lincoln cents in the set, had the four different designs from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mint.

Issue Price: The 2009 Early Childhood Satin Finish Lincoln Cents could only be acquired by purchasing the 2009 Uncirculated Mint Set directly from the U.S. Mint. The price of each set was originally sold for $27.95 each.
