This is the fourth year in which the One Ounce Uncirculated Buffalo Gold coins have been produced. T

he 2009 Uncirculated One Ounce Gold Buffalos were first sold to the Mint Authorized Purchasers beginning on October 15, 2009. The coins were extremely popular that the Mint could not keep up with the demand and the production for these coins had to be canceled.

By December 04, 2009, the Mint notified its Authorized Purchasers that orders for the 2009 One Ounce Uncirculated Buffalos were no longer being accepted. Within those seven weeks, the Mint had already sold over 200,000 - One Ounce 2009 Uncirculated Gold Buffalos.

Coins submitted to PCGS within the first 30 days of release qualified to receive a special First Strike label.
