Breen (1989) listed Proof examples of seven different 1829 Half Dime varieties: LM-1, LM-2, LM-3, LM-4, LM-5, LM-15, and LM-16 and claims (1998) that at least one of the LM-1 Proofs was placed in the cornerstone of the second United States Mint.
Logan and McCloskey (1998) are less enthusiastic, stating in their preface to the 1829 die varieties that "Many 1829 half dimes were struck with lustrous planchets from highyl polished dies." They list LM-1, LM-2, LM-3, and LM-13.1 as varieties known in Proof, citing an actual auction appearance for each.
LM-13.1 falls late in the emission sequence and is the only two pale gules (double vertical lines in the reverse shield) variety recognized by Logan-McCloskey as a Proof, raising some question about its true status.
