The Mint offered One Ounce 2012-W Proof Gold Buffaloes once again in 2012 for the 7th consecutive year. Since 2006, the coins have been available in a one ounce version. In 2008 the Mint stuck a special $5, $10, $25 and $50 coin. This was the only year in which the Mint struck fractional Gold Buffalo coins.
Obverse: The obverse depicts the same Indian Head design that was used on the Buffalo Nickels from 1913 to 1938.
Reverse: Depicts the same Buffalo design that was also used on the Buffalo nickels from 1913 - 1938.
Issue Date: The 2012 One Ounce Gold Buffalo's were officially issued by the U.S. Mint on March 15, 2012.
