Ron Guth:
The 1927-D Quarter Dollar is in the mid- to lower range of the Relative Rarity rankings for the entire Standing Liberty series. Thus, it is not rare, but it is not common either. Numerous examples have been certified at the Mint State level, usually at the MS-64 level, although numerous Gems are known. Full Head examples are a smaller subset of the Mint State peices, but can be had for a relatively small premium over the less-than-Full Head versions. None have been graded finer than MS-67 by PCGS in either format.
