This variety of Birch Cent has the edge inscribed " TO BE ESTEEMED BE USEFUL* " and there are only two known specimens. One specimen is very worn. Its estimated grade is FR02 and it was sold in the January, 2009 Heritage auction for $86,250. The finest known specimen is an estimated grade EF45/AU50 coin. It was in the Norweb collection and sold in the November, 1988 Norweb auction for $59,400.
