P. Scott Rubin: The 1792 Plain Edge Copper Disme, Judd-11 is an extremely rare coin with only four coins reportedly known. This was the first pattern of the Disme denomination, since it was struck with a plain edge. This was followed by Judd-10 which is a Copper Disme struck from the same dies but with a Reeded Edge, and finally Judd-9, a Silver Disme struck with a Reeded Edge using the same dies.

It is interesting to note three of the four coins reported do not show signs of circulation, however one of these three has been damaged by having what appears to be chisel marks punched into it. The fourth coin is reported to be in Very Fine condition. I discovered this heretofore unknown listing years ago when I was surveying auction records for pattern coin appearances. It appeared as Lot 381 in Bolender's 120th Sale, November 21, 1938 and has not reappeared since.

Because none of the undamaged coins have sold at auction in recent years, no significant auction record currently exists. This should change with the January, 2015 offering of the finest known specimen, the Donald Partrick specimen in Heritage’s 2015 FUN sale.
Ron Guth:

Judd 9, Judd 10 and Judd 11 are from the same pair of dies. Judd 10 has a reeded edge; Judd 11 has a plain edge. The presumed emission sequence is Judd 11 first, then Judd 10, followed by Judd 9.
