The 1819 Newcomb 3 Large Cent is considered a Rarity 3 (Scarce) in most grades. However, it is very difficult to locate this variety with any degree of mint red; most examples have toned down to a tan or chocolate brown. There are at least two exceptions, as PCGS shows an MS64RB and an MS65+RB on their Population Report. In fact, the PCGS MS65+RB example may be the finest 1819 Small Date Large Cent in existence.
