Charles Morgan:

The 1928-S Standing Liberty Quarter, Repunched Mintmark FS-502

This Cherrypickers' Guide variety is easily identified by clear secondary remnants of the first "S" punch, positioned to the right of the primary mintmark. Additionally, the lower curve of the "S" nearly touches the edge of Liberty's gown. This variety is typically found in a die state that features a prominent die crack extending from the rim to the top of the pedestal, directly above the date digits "28".
