The 1827 O-126 Half Dollar is considered a relatively common variety (Rarity-2), but it is difficult to locate high-quality examples. The PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census only goes to MS64+, which is surprising since so many of the other 1827 varieties can be found in Gem condition. The nicest example to appear on the market in recent years is the afore-mentioned PCGS MS64+ that sold in a Legend Rare Coin Auction in 2016. This was one of those rare instance where a collector could have pruchased the Finest Known example of the variety for less than $8,000.
