The 1843 Half Dimes is a fairly common coin and, like most of the P-Mint Half Dimes of the 1840's it has a mintage of over 1 million coins. In terms of pricing and value, the 1843 Half Dime tracks right along with the 1841, 1842, 1844, and the 1845. Mint State examples are just shy of common, but there are several outstanding pieces that elevate the lowest grade in the PCGS Condition Census to MS66 (the finest examples are at the MS67+ level).
Most examples show strong details in the centers, but the 1843 Half Dime seems to always have some weakness, however slight, on the denticles. This is not unique to this date, as most Liberty Seated Half Dimes share this characteristic.
