The 1787 Bust Left Vermont Copper is known by only one variety (Ryder 15), and it is one of the rarest and most celebrated in the series. All examples have a heavy cud that obliterates most of the date on the reverse. This die faiulure is the apparent reason for the rarity of this variety. Only 20 or so examples are known of this variety, which translates into high demand for this one-year type. Most examples are either low grade or have planchet problems, so fiding a decent coin with smooth surfaces and natural color is almost impossible. The APRs for this variety range from under $10,000 for and AG example to roughly $40,000 for a decent-looking coin.
