Half Dollars of 1846 feature two different date logotypes: Medium Date and Tall Date. The differences between the two are obvious when the coins are placed side-by-side, but to attribute a single coin, you will need the aid of the attribution image above. The clearest difference is on the 1 of the date, which is tall and slender on the Tall Date, the 6, whose top ball is widely separated from the bottom loo, and the 4, which is shaped quite differently on both.
