Judd 1387 is a copper version of the regular Nickels of 1875. As there was no urgent need for a copper Five Cent piece (Five Cent pieces are still being made of the same Nickel alloy today as they were in 1866!), this appears to be something that the Mint created specifically for sale to collectors. Very few of these are known today. PCGS and NGC both show two pieces each in their respective Population Reports and Censuses, but only three have shown up on the market since 2012. The finest is the Newman NGC MS66RB that burst onto the scene in 2013. The PCGS PR65RD example appeared in numerous auctions over a three-year period from 2012 to 2015 and seems to have finally found a home (this example may be the PR64RD listed in the NGC Census).
