The 1694 "New England" Elephant Token is an extremely rare coin with only three examples known. Planchet weights vary considerably from a thin planchet of 132.8 grains (the Kendall example) to 240.9 grains (the Roper example); what this signifies is unknown. The finest example is the Roper example, last seen on the market in 1983 but since graded PCGS AU58. Auction appearances of this variant are infrequent, sometimes spanning decades before an example shows up on the market.
