The vast majority of Fugio Cents have cinquefoils (five-lobed rosettes) on either side of the words FUGIO and the date. However, a small minority of the coins have a four-lobed artifact, commonly referred to as a cross, after the date. The cross only appears on the obverse of Newman 1, which is paired with four different reverses. The "Cross after Date" variety usually commands a significant premium from collectors who seek all of the major Fugio varieties.
On this variety, the reverse shows STATES on the left side of the circular label and UNITED on the right.
