The vast majority of Fugio Cents have cinquefoils (five-lobed rosettes) on either side of the words FUGIO and the date. However, a small minority of the coins have a four-lobed artifact, commonly referred to as a cross, after the date. The cross only appears on the obverse of Newman 1, which is paired with four different reverses. The "Cross after Date" variety usually commands a premium from collectors who seek all of the major Fugio varieties.
