William Woodin - Thomas Edler 1911:??? - Waldo Newcomer (?) - Col. E.H.R. Green (?) - John Zug - F.C.C. Boyd - Kosoff/Kreisberg "World's Greatest Collection" 1945:394 - Numismatic Gallery "Memorable" 3/1948:343, $135 - John Jay Pittman - David Akers 10/1997:832 (as part of a complete set of copper, silver, and gold Proof coins) - sold by Blanchard & Company circa May 2009 (along with the proof Quarter Eagle and Eagle) for a reported $937,765 for the three-piece set.  Newcomer's inclusion in this pedigree chain is not certain, but probable; his inventory lists a Proof 1843 Half Eagle, for which he paid $8.  Col. Green's inclusion is based on his purchase of all of Newcomer's Half Eagles.  The Woodin tie-in comes from Zug, who told Pittman that this coin came from Woodin's collection; presumably, from Elder's 1911 sale of the Woodin collection (as did the Quarter Eagle and Eagle).
