2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Roosevelt Dime

The 2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Roosevelt Dime became a first-of-its-kind offering when it was sold as part of a special three-piece known as the 2015 March of Dimes Special Silver Set. Issued for $61.95, the three-piece set was anchored by the 2015-W March of Dimes Silver Dollar flanked in a presentation case by the 2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Roosevelt Dime and its counterpart 2015-W Silver Proof Dime. The sets went on sale May 4, 2015, and were a virtual sellout, with a total of 74,430 minted against a total authorized production limit of 75,000.

This makes the 2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Roosevelt Dime one of the scarcest coins in the series, alongside the 2015-W Silver Proof Roosevelt Dime. However, among the three coins in the set, which was the only vehicle for collectors to originally obtain the two special Roosevelt Dimes, the 2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Dime has carried the most demand. It’s regularly included in comprehensive date-and-mintmark Roosevelt Dime sets, and it’s also accommodated on the PCGS Set Registry.

Not surprisingly for a modern United States Mint product, most specimens one encounters in the marketplace today are in exquisite condition. The vast majority that PCGS has encapsulated are graded PR69, with the number of PR70 specimens not all that far behind. Those grading PR68 or lower represent but a slim share of the population, suggesting that collectors can expect their 2015-P Silver Reverse Proof Dimes to exhibit outstanding quality in terms of strike and eye appeal.

Specimens in PR69 typically trade in the range of $65, while PR70 examples fetch closer to $85. This puts the coin financially within the reach of many collectors, and with thousands of PCGS-graded examples available there are plenty to go in the PCGS Registry Sets of Roosevelt Dime enthusiasts just about everywhere.
