This was the very first silver plug half dollar certified by PCGS. The coin was discovered in a junk box in 2002. After being quoted a price meant to discourage me from buying the coin, I bought it anyway on the condition that PCGS attribute it as a silver plug which it did after considerable examination and testing. This coin however is not the discovery coin for silver plug halves. The discovery coin was found a couple years earlier. It's about VG and still raw. There is a third silver plug half certified by PCGS which I owned as well. The silver plug half dollar is many times rarer than the silver plug dollar of which there are probably about 50. btw - all three are different Overton varities.
