Ron Guth:

The Proof 1845 Half Dollar is a very rare item. Eight examples are known, but two are old pre-1980 auction citations, one example is in the National Numismatic Collection at the Smithsonian Institution, and the remaining five have all been certified and have appeared on the market at various times since 2006. The finest example is an NGC PR66 which was once a part of the Kaufman collection.
