There are about 10 examples believed to have been produced for the Proof 1847 Seated Half Dollar. Therefore, making this coin very rare. There is also an 1847/6 overdate variety known and another example without the overdate resides in the Smithsonian. Therefore, if the estimated mintage of 10 coins is correct, there are probably only about 8 examples of the non-overdate that can be owned by collectors.
