Ron Guth:
The 1850 Half Dime is one of the more common dates of the Seated Liberty Half Dimes, though it is slightly less common than some of the other dates from the Philadelphia Mint (such as the 1843, 1845, and any of the mega-mintage dates from the 1850s, 1860s, and 1870s). Most examples show a strong strike -- even on the denticles - which is a refreshing change from other dates in the series. Numerous Mint State examples have survived, usually in MS63 and MS64. The best examples top out at the MS67 level.
