Jaime Hernandez:

The 1871 Proof Indian Cent has one of the lower mintages in the series. Over it is fairly scarce and not to many examples come up for sale every year. Maybe 5 or so examples may come up at auction throughout the year or so. Therefore, you cannot be too selective on this issue when buying one. Anything grading PR65 or higher is scarce. The highest known examples are in about PR66 condition.
