David Akers (1975/88): The 1915 is not at all difficult to find in MS-63 or lower grades, and there are also a fair number of MS-64 quality pieces around. Overall, this issue is similar in rarity to the 1910, 1912 and 1913 although it is distinctly more common than any of them in gem condition. True gems are rare but are seen more often than all but a handful of this series' 32 issues. In addition to the MS-65 quality coins, there are also a small number of superb MS-67 quality specimens known, including several nearly perfect ones.

The 1915 is always very sharply struck with frosty, virtually non-granular surfaces and very good to excellent lustre. The color is also usually excellent, most often a medium to rich greenish gold with rose or orange highlights. There are some really gorgeous examples of this issue in existence from an overall "eye appeal" standpoint.
