The mintage of the 1939 proof Walker is just slightly higher than the 1938 (8,808 to 8,152), but the 1939 is much easier to locate than the 1938, especially in Gem grades (PR65 or better). It appears more were saved and they were saved with care as the 1939 is often found in truly Superb condition.
