Jaime Hernandez:

The 1949-S Roosevelt Dime has the second lowest mintage in the entire circulation strike silver Roosevelt Dime series. The only other lower mintage Dime in the series is the1955-P.

The 1949-S Roosevelt Dime is easily obtainable in lower circulated grades and trades for a slight premium above melt value. In XF grades it becomes a bit tougher but still obtainable without much effort. In Uncirculated grades it is very scarce compared to most other issues in the series. In fact, in MS60 - MS63 grades it trades for a significant premium compared to any other coin in the series.

Full Bands - With Full Bands details the 1949-S is one of the toughest coins to find, if not the toughest of all the Silver Dimes from 1946 - 1964. In existence, there are probably 75 - 100 1949-D Dimes that would qualify as having Full Bands details. Most of the ones that do are usually in grades of MS65 - MS67.
