Jaime Hernandez:

In 2008 the Uncirculated Silver Eagles became very popular. The same year the Mint broke a record for selling more Uncirculated Silver Eagles than any other year since the inception of the program. The total mintage for 2008 was over 20.5 million. This was more than double the amount of Silver Eagles sold in the previous year or in 2007.

The Uncirculated 2008 Silver Eagles came in very nice quality. Most examples graded at PCGS received a grade of MS69. MS68 examples were also very common. Perfect MS70 graded examples were not as common as MS68 or MS69 examples. However, more than enough examples were graded in PCGS MS70 to keep prices affordable for most collectors.
