Ron Guth:
This is a great date because of the very low mintage of only 140,000 coins -- one of the smallest mintages in the entire Seated Liberty Half Dime series. Nonetheless, low-end circulated pieces are quite affordable. At the AU level, this date becomes quite pricey, and Mint State examples are quite elusive and valuable. PCGS has certified fewer than a dozen Mint State examples, most of which fall into the MS64 grade level. The strike on these coins is never 100% and most have a slightly mushy look, especially those struck from worn dies.
