PCGS Set Registry Update

Enamelwork has been dated back as early as the 13th century, when a few gold rings were found in Cyprus. One of the most famous Russian artists who worked with enamel and precious metals was Carl Fabergé in St. Petersburg, Russia. He created The House of Fabergé, where one masterpiece after another was created by artisans under his direction. Fabergé became one of the most influential jewelry designers of the time, and his signature creations became decorative Imperial eggs. It is purported that about 50 eggs were created for the Romanov Russian family. These precious metal eggs were given as gifts, sometimes they were decorated with pearls, diamonds, rubies, and other precious materials. Sometimes these eggs would be accompanied by another work of art like the ship shown on the coin above. The Azova Egg was crafted to commemorate a voyage made by Tsarevitch Nicholas and Grand Duke George on the Pamiat Azova ship to India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan in 1890. The silver coin shown is part of the Niue Imperial Faberge Eggs $1 Silver Set, Proof (2021), which is listed for our members to consider building.
