Jaime Hernandez:

The 1879 Indian Cent is one of the semi key dates in the series, as it does have one of the lower mintages. Additionally, it also commands a slight premium over common dates in most grades. In lower Uncirculated grades the 1879 Indian Cent is easily available. Only in MS65 or higher does it become very scarce with a few hundred examples known. In MS66, it is very tough with no more than few dozen in existence. In MS67 it is really scarce with about a handful known.
