Jaime Hernandez:

Many Seated Liberty Half Dollars are undervalued and the 1885 is just one of them. This issue has a mintage of only 5,200 examples struck with many of them being lost, melted while others have been harshly cleaned or damaged. This date is comparable to the 1879, 1882, 1884, 1886 and 1887 all with mintages of 5,000 or less. If you can afford one in any grade, definitely try to pick one up.
