The Sheldon 68 is an R-5 variety that marks the third deployment of Reverse II (previously seen on the Split Pole S-66 (#35657) and on the Roman Plicae S-67 (#35684).
Obverse 34 features a characteristic bisecting die crack, ranging from light to heavy, that bisects Liberty’s face. Noyes distinguishes this variety by the five bulbous or braided locks of hair, while the digits of the date are notably closely spaced.
