Charles Morgan:

The 1794 Liberty Cap Cent, Sheldon 23, Shattered Obverse

This variety represents the only appearance of Obverse 6, a die that was quickly discontinued due to rapid deterioration. Reverse D was more durable and was subsequently used for the Sheldon-24 variety.

When found in a perfect die state, this variety is exceptionally rare. Key diagnostics for the reverse include a wreath with six berries on the left and seven on the right, with the ribbon bow sitting higher on the right side. Additionally, the fraction bar on the reverse is long enough to touch the tall numerator "1".
